Your Network of Connections: Any Value?

Published by Toby Marshall on

Your Online Connections – you have 100s, maybe 1000s. How can you make just a few hundred of them hugely valuable?

Almost the entire network of a typical professional or a manager can only be described as dormant. Therefore worthless.

A good way to think of them? Gold in the ground that has not been discovered yet.

The goal of your referral strategy is to grow the size of the more valuable categories, to get them out of dormant.

Here are the 4 types of people in your network, with some very typical percentages before you implement your referrals plan…

Dormant: 90 % of your network or more. They might have met you but soon forgot, or can only vaguely recall you when prompted. Zero idea of the value you provide.

Stagnant: 7% may talk about you if someone says they need what you do.

Active: 2%, they talk about you unprompted. Know, like and trust you.

Opportunity: 1 % are walking billboards for you and your business

Once you know the different categories it’s time to implement strategies to grow the percentage of the most valuable, the top 2.

How do I leverage my network – it’s all in our next Article.
