Google Advertising Case Study

How to reduce your Google advertising costs: Find out how we reduced their cost-per-click by $5 AND increased their leads…

The Hearing and Balance Centre approached us to review their AdWords spend and effectiveness. After a single look at what they were currently spending we could guarantee that we could get them more qualified leads and for much less.

They now receive more than double the leads to their site, and pay 1/5th what they were previously paying.

How did we reduce their spend by 5 times and get them more leads?

  • We removed irrelevant keywords, thereby decreasing their spend (improving quality score).
  • We re-wrote the atrocious ad copy, increasing their click-through-rate from 0.5% to 4% (more leads).
  • Sorted the keywords and ads into adgroups  - Targeting specific searchers, which meant more effective campaigns.
  • Directed people to relevant landing pages to what they were searching for, so conversion was improved.

Whilst this sounds simple, many people, and providers get it wrong. The cost-per-click for Hearing and Balance went from $6.28 to $1.06 almost instantly.

This is just one of the many examples of small businesses paying too much to large AdWords providers…

So often we’ve spoken with people and to no surprise they quite often say something along the lines of “I’m happy with my current spend”. Most suppliers actually charge close to $1000 for these small campaigns, however the work does not warrant it. Most of the work on a campaign is done within the first 2 weeks. The cost of the actual ads would usually only make up 30% of that fee.
