Too often we hear “(insert Social Media tool here) doesn’t work…”

And you know what? They’re right!
Usually they’ve built a Facebook page, or connected with 200 strangers on LinkedIn and then…nothing.
The ‘build it and they will come’ disease.
The same happened when websites were the flavour of the decade and people who didn’t use SEO thought websites “didn’t work”.
Well, Social Media’s the same. Building a page is the equivalent of printing 10, 000 brochures, giving out 100 and putting the rest on your shelf.
It’s a marketing tool, not a silver bullet. You’ve still got to do something with it.
Social Media (or more specifically, Social Networking – a critical difference) is simply a platform for connecting and communicating.
Not unlike a conference or networking event – if you stand on your own in the corner, or conversely rant a sales pitch everywhere you go, don’t expect a big or warm reception.
Not sure where to start?
